6. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Speaking of classics, it is impossible not to mention this film. Although the story is based on a novel that has been adapted several times to the cinema, the most emblematic version is that of the 1920s; a century later, she is still recognized for her way of managing terror using the resources of the time.
Dr. Henry Jekyll (John Barrymore) challenges himself to create a formula that can separate the good and the bad side of a man into two separate bodies. However, a miscalculation causes the two characters to end up living in the same body, which causes serious problems. Although the origin of Dr. Jekyll’s disorder is a scientific experiment, one can see in this film a confused sense of identity, a symptom of dissociative disorder.
