The famous cry of King Leonidas “This is Sparta” (which is Sparta), which has become one of the most popular memes on the Internet, was improvised by actor Gerard Butler. Some time ago, he talked about it in an interview for GQ magazine. As planned by the director, the character should whisper this sentence and then throw the Persian emissary into the well. But the actor asked to make another take. According to him, none of the members of the film set expected such a shout, so that his colleagues could hardly restrain their laughter. But the director liked the scene and decided to include it in the film.
