12. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: When Gandalf almost let Ian McKellen pass
In the film, Ian McKellen constantly had to shoot alone on a green background. He felt so isolated that he eventually became depressed. Director Peter Jackson then wanted to support the actor to prevent him from resigning. The film crew thus organized a “Day dedicated to Gandalf” where each one decorated Ian’s tent with memories of the Lord of the Rings.
