Ingredients
Scale
- 4 salmon fillets (skin on)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Black sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season evenly with Cajun seasoning and salt to taste.
- Sear the salmon: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook until the skin is browned and the fish begins to cook through. Carefully turn the fillets and continue cooking until nearly done.
- Make the sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the butter to the skillet and let it melt. Add the minced garlic and stir briefly until fragrant.
- Add the honey and soy sauce: Stir in the honey and soy sauce, combining them with the melted butter and garlic. Cook gently, stirring, until the sauce is smooth and glossy.
- Finish with lemon: Stir in the juice of half a lemon. Return the salmon to the skillet if necessary and spoon the sauce over the fillets.
- Finish cooking: Allow the salmon to finish cooking gently in the sauce until the thickest part reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from the heat. Spoon the remaining sauce over the salmon, garnish with chopped fresh parsley and black sesame seeds, and serve with lemon wedges.
Notes
- Adjust the salt according to the saltiness of your Cajun seasoning and soy sauce.
- Keep the heat moderate when preparing the honey butter sauce to prevent the garlic from burning and the honey from darkening too quickly.
- Serve immediately with rice, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh green salad. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days.
