Find us a show in recent years that’s been quite as sensational as the fantasy drama ‘Game of Thrones.’ Sure, the program might not have ended the way people wanted it to. However, that doesn’t take away from how magical the series was throughout most of it’s run.

The show made massive stars of its cast, including Emilia Clarke, who portrayed Daenerys. This woman’s take on the character is almost picture-perfect, and she even has a little dragon with her.

The Incredibles in action

It would be pretty awesome to have superheroes as parents, especially if they passed their powers down to you. Sure, having the responsibility of the world on your shoulders isn’t great, but we reckon it would be worth the benefits this kind of thing would bring.

Unfortunately, the only way we can make this a reality is by dressing up like our favorite superheroes and pretending that we’re them. These girls wore matching costumes and we’re loving their creativity.

It’s Jessica!

If you remember the childhood classic, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, then there’s a good chance this character will need no introduction. Jessica Rabbit was the human cartoon wife of Roger Rabbit…

And has gone down in history as one of the most famous animated female characters of all time. Plenty of people have tried to pull off her distinct look over the years, but it looks like this woman has got it down perfectly. Even the hair and makeup is incredible!

Wonder Woman

Ever since DC released the Wonder Woman movie back in 2017, people have been desperate to try and copy the Amazonian demi-goddess look. With the second movie on the way in 2020, it doesn’t look like Diana Prince is going to be disappearing from our minds anytime soon.

This woman has managed to perfectly recreate the most famous Wonder Woman look, complete with sword and shield. All she needs now is the Lasso of Truth, and she’ll be ready to fight the bad guys.

Marvel-ous

If you’re a fan of the Marvel movies and comic books, then you probably know who this woman is trying to recreate. Played by Scarlett Johansson in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Widow is part of the Avengers team.

Not only has she appeared in most of the Avengers movies, but there have been hints that Black Widow is about to get her own movie now too. After the rise in popularity of female superheroes recently, we think that’s a smart move from Marvel!

Marvel at this

While we’re on the subject of Marvel, here’s another female superhero that everyone has grown to love. The Captain Marvel film was released back in 2019, but we did catch a glimpse of the hero in previous Avengers movies.

Played by Brie Larson, this extraterrestrial warrior is actually one of the most powerful Marvel heroes of all time. We love how this woman has managed to recreate that powerful glare, and her outfit is spot on.

Raiding tombs

Did you know that Lara Croft is decades old now?! Well, not actually, but she has been in popular culture since 1996… That makes us feel old. We first saw her in the original Tomb Raider video game back then, and she has grown in popularity since.

In fact, there have been dozens of video games and movies all following our favorite archaeologist. First, she was played by Angelina Jolie and then most recently by Alicia Vikander. We wonder which one inspired this outfit!

Cruella de Vil

Cruella de Vil… If she doesn’t scare you… You know the rest of the song! Oooh, this baddie really gives us the creeps! First seen in the 1961 Disney movie, 101 Dalmatians, there’s no denying that everyone loved to hate Cruella de Vil.

She wanted nothing more than to wear Dalmatian pups as a coat, but we couldn’t hate her for it. In fact, she has some of the coolest fashion sense ever! Plus, she looks absolutely amazing. This woman has managed to capture the fashionable villain in all of her glory.

She’s super

Did you know that Supergirl is actually the biological cousin of Superman? Well, you do now. Kara Danvers has been part of the DC universe for quite some time, but has only really risen to fame due to her own series that premiered back in 2015.

Now it seems as though everyone has forgotten all about Superman and wants a piece of Supergirl instead! It appears as though the female superheroes really are taking over the world.

More girl power

Everyone loves Batman, right? But what about Batgirl?! We first see the female counterpart to Batman back in Batman #139 in 1961! However, there is also Batwoman, who has recently risen to fame in the 2019 TV series of the same name.

Want to know how you can tell the difference? Batgirl has a yellow bat on her costume, whereas Batwoman wears a red bat. The two definitely aren’t the same, so don’t get them confused!

Back to the future

It’s always funny to watch the sci-fi ‘Back to the Future’ films and see what people in the mid-1980s thought the world would be like nowadays. We’re a little disappointed to admit that the futuristic year of 2015 that happened several years ago definitely wasn’t quite as they’d pictured it to be in the second movie.

However, that doesn’t make us love it any less. The popularity of these films has meant that Marty McFly and “Doc” Brown are common costume choices whenever Halloween rolls around. To be fair, if they’re always this convincing, then we don’t see why they shouldn’t be.

A pika-perfect costume

Find us a media franchise that is more popular than ‘Pokémon.’ You won’t be able to. This series has spawned video games, playing cards, books, apps, and so many different animes, all to great success. It doesn’t matter how old you are; it’s hard not to love the franchise.

When it comes to the Pokémon themselves, everyone has a favorite – there are over 800 now – but it’s Pikachu who usually reigns supreme. This girl definitely nailed her costume of the popular character.

Bringing the magic to life

Fantasy films have always been relatively popular. However, few have been quite as much of a phenomenon as ‘Harry Potter.’ The franchise has been popular since the first book debuted in the late ‘90s, and it still continues to release new content today.

There are dozens of great characters from ‘Harry Potter’ that you can dress up as, but this girl chose to go as the female version of Harry himself. All she needs is the scar on her forehead, and it’s perfect!

A festive nightmare

The dark fantasy musical ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is one of those films that it’s hard to know when to watch it. After all, it’s spooky setting and darker story make it perfect for Halloween.

However, the movie also focuses on Jack Skellington trying to bring Christmas to Halloweentown, meaning it’s also technically appropriate for watching during the holidays. Whatever time of year you prefer to enjoy the movie, though, there’s no denying that these two did an excellent job of turning the stop-motion characters into horrifyingly real beings.

Jingle bell rock

People tend to get excited about Christmas a little too early nowadays. Everyone seems in such a rush to celebrate the holiday season that they start thinking about it before Halloween is even over. Of course, we don’t think that’s the reason these four are dressed the way they are.

From the looks of it, they’re recreating that iconic moment from the teen comedy movie ‘Mean Girls.’ You’ve got Gretchen, Regina, Cady, and Karen all lined up perfectly to perform ‘Jingle Bell Rock.’ Hopefully, though, this rendition went much smoother.

Married… with costumes

Sitcoms are a staple of American TV, and they have been for nearly as long as television’s existed. We’ve seen countless shows from this genre dominate ratings over the years, although it’s not always the most-watched ones which are the best.

‘Married… with Children’ was never a ratings hit, but it was insanely beloved by those who tuned in. Al and Peg Bundy are now two of the most iconic characters in TV history, so we love that these two used them as inspiration for their Halloween costumes.

Teletubbies say hello

Dressing up as the Teletubbies for Halloween might not seem like the most glamorous idea. That’s probably why these girls decided to do something a little different with their costumes. Rather than hiding away in full-body suits, they chose to don tops and tutus in the various colors assigned to the characters.

Admittedly, the clothes themselves don’t necessarily read Teletubbies. However, thanks to the antennae on their heads, the inspiration behind their costumes is a little more obvious. For one night only, they were Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po.

The coming-of-age dramedy ‘Juno’ is the movie that put Ellen Page on the map, partly because she had such great onscreen chemistry with Michael Cero. Although some people might consider the film to be controversial, it still makes an excellent choice for anyone looking to do a couple’s costume.

The character of Juno, in particular, is ideal for any expectant mothers out there who want to incorporate their baby bump into their outfit. Of course, a pillow under the shirt is just as effective for anyone that’s not pregnant.

Impossible is unstoppable

It doesn’t matter where and it doesn’t matter when, because this girl will be here for you until the very end. All you’ve got to do is call her, or beep her, if you want to reach her.

Yes, this girl is one part of the crime-fighting duo, Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable from the popular Disney animated series. She might be missing her other part, but she’s got the looks totally nailed.

People used to say that girls were made from sugar, spice, and everything nice, but when it came to the Powerpuff Girls, that was actually true. These ingredients all came together to produce the animated superheroes, with a little chemical X thrown in for good measure too.

Luckily, none of that stuff is necessary when it comes to making costumes of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. These girls managed to do an excellent job without any of it, and the end result is still as fabulous as you would hope.

Whenever a big sitcom ends, another comes along to take its place. That will happen again any day now, seeing as ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is finally over. The show was one of the most successful that the genre had ever seen, and it helped inspire a rise in nerd culture.

There will no doubt be many couples dressing as Sheldon and Amy for years to come, partly because the outfits are so easy to pull together. These are the kinds of clothes some people have in their wardrobes already.

Usually, when people think of Disney princesses or female characters from fairytales, they imagine them as the good guys. However, according to these girls, there’s more to these women than meets the eye.

It was actually Miss Philippines who’d clinched the win, resulting in a very awkward de-crowning and re-crowning moment. These two decided to relive that moment for their Halloween costume, although if they were trying to copy the looks from that night, it appears they got their colors the wrong way around.

You don’t have to be an avid gamer to know about the ‘Mario’ series. The franchise has been around for decades now, and throughout that time, its games have been impacting people’s childhoods. Evidently, these girls are no stranger to ‘Mario’ because they decided to use the characters as inspiration for their Halloween costumes.

What would we do without Starbucks? The coffee shop franchise has well and truly taken over America – and our lives. It’s reached the point now where we can’t get through the day without a grande frappuccino or the forever mocked pumpkin spiced latte.

Clearly, we’re not alone, because these ladies also love themselves a good Starbucks order. They’re so dedicated to their daily dose of coffee that they even dressed up as the stuff for Halloween. We reckon Starbucks wasn’t upset about all the free promotion this gave them.

Who runs the world? Beyonce. We’ve known that for a while, and we definitely don’t have a problem with it. The diva is one of the most powerful women in the music industry right now, and she has a legion of devoted fans who follow her every word.

We can safely assume that this girl is one of them judging by her punny Halloween costume. It seems she decided to show her love for the singer by dressing up as a bee named Yonce. Get it – Bee-Yonce?

She plastered men all over raindrops and then attached them to her umbrella, making it seem like it really was raining men. She even had a little sign that read, “Hallelujah!.”

We’re starting to think that the only way to win Halloween anymore is to come dressed as something punny. This girl really takes the cake – or should that be pie? – with her pumpkin-inspired attire.

Unless you never paid attention in math class, you probably recognize that sign on her t-shirt as the symbol for pi. So, what does that make her? Yes, she’s pumpkin pi. It might not be as tasty as the real thing, but it’s a clever costume that definitely appeals to our nerdy side.

Whenever people go on vacation, they always seem to come back with a snowglobe. Whether it’s for themselves or someone else, these things somehow find their way into suitcases.

We have to wonder if this girl based her outfit on a real snowglobe she received from Hawaii, or whether she designed it using her imagination. Either way, we love the creativity that went into this. Not only does the outfit look great, but the concept is incredibly inventive too. It’s not often you see someone dressed like this on Halloween.

A man and his paintbrush

Most people ought to be familiar with the work of Bob Ross. The man created some incredible pieces of art throughout his life, particularly during his time on the instructional show ‘The Joy of Painting.’ Although he passed away in the mid-’90s, people still remember Ross and his artwork fondly today.

That’s why he’s such a popular choice for Halloween costumes, especially when it comes to couples. One person dresses up as the artist, while the other is their canvas. The result is usually something as impressive as this.

Swipe right

If you were to ask someone how they met their other half nowadays, you could reasonably expect the response to be through Tinder. The app might not always get the best reputation, but it has helped bring many different couples together over the last few years.

We assume that Izzo and Leighbo are one such example, judging by their choice of Halloween costume. It might have been annoying walking around with those Tinder profiles all night long, but we still swipe right to the look. It’s a very current costume.

No filter needed

The rise of social media has meant that it’s hard to tell whether what’s posted online is real or not. So many people like to give off an altered version of reality to make others think that their lives are better than they really are.

This couple’s costume basically exemplifies that in the best way. They’re supposed to be the same person, with one of them the more glammed-up version that you see on social media. It’s simple, but it’s also very relevant to the modern age.

Catch of the day

We choose to see the sweet side of these Halloween costumes because it’s very easy for these looks to become quite dark. After all, she’s dressed up as a lobster while he’s presumably the chef that’s about to cook her. That doesn’t sound especially pleasant, does it?

However, we like to believe that the “Catch of the Day” sign that she’s wearing symbolizes that she’s the best thing in his life. He was fortunate enough to “catch” her, and now – hopefully – he doesn’t want to let her go again.

Clucking good costume

This is another couple’s costume choice that could be considered a bit morbid. Dressing up as Colonel Sanders, the mascot of KFC, and a chicken would definitely turn a few heads at a Halloween party. However, isn’t that usually the point at these things?

You don’t typically want your outfit to just blend into the background. Sure, you shouldn’t go too far with your look to the point that it’s offensive. Something like this, though, that’s a little on the dark side of things should be perfectly reasonable.

Childhood complete

We don’t know about you, but our childhood was partly spent reading the Winnie-the-Pooh stories and watching all the films. The characters of Hundred Acre Wood meant a great deal to us back then, which is why we love what these two have done.

Winnie and Tigger make for an excellent couple’s costume choice, even if the two weren’t an item in the stories. They’re probably the biggest characters from the series, so they’re naturally the go-to animals to recreate on Halloween. These two certainly did the looks justice.

If you’re a fan of HGTV, then you’ll know who Chip and Joanna Gaines are. They’re the couple responsible for the reality series ‘Fixer Upper’ which aired between 2013 and 2017. The show quickly became one of the most popular series on the network, and it’s still beloved today.

‘Fixer Upper’ had such a significant impact on the nation that people now even dress up like Chip and Joanna for Halloween. We’d say these two got the couple’s outfits down to a tee – the Gaines family would be proud.

Life imitating art

When it comes to famous paintings, American Gothic by Grant Wood is undoubtedly one of the most famous. It features a farmer holding a pitchfork and standing in front of a gothic-style house with his daughter – not his wife.

The image has been featured and parodied in a multitude of films and TV shows, with people even choosing to recreate it for Halloween costumes. It’s certainly not hard to tell who these two are meant to be, although we don’t imagine it was fun carrying that frame around everywhere.

Operation success

If you don’t have a steady hand, then Operation definitely isn’t the game for you. It’s not easy pulling all those items out of such small holes, especially when your nerves get the better of you.

Luckily, that didn’t deter these two from making their Halloween costumes Operation inspired. Pulling this look together probably didn’t require such a steady hand, although unfortunately, we doubt it’s as playable as the real thing. At least it looks super creative, and the work that went into it is very clear to see.

From A to B

It doesn’t matter where these two ended up on Halloween; we imagine they always found their way back to one another. It’s kind of hard to lose someone when they’ve got a giant marker on their head, though.

Again, this is a smart choice for a look suited to the modern age. Plenty of people rely on things like Google Maps to help them get from A to B, so you likely see those markers on a daily basis. Let’s just hope they didn’t get lost while out on Halloween.

Straight outta Seuss

Although Dr. Seuss filled our childhoods with plenty of captivating stories, it was ‘The Cat in the Hat’ that always stuck with us. We reckon that’s the case with a lot of people, which is why the character is such a popular choice for Halloween costumes.

Of course, the titular cat wasn’t alone in the story; he always had his trusty companions Thing 1 and Thing 2 by his side. This woman took on the role of one of those creatures, while her baby bump took on the other.

Fitting together perfectly

Back in the day, video games were nothing like they are now. You didn’t have things like ‘Fortnite’ and ‘Call of Duty’ to keep you entertained for hours. Instead, you had to make do with games like ‘Pac-Man’ and ‘Tetris.’

Of course, these were still highly addictive, and despite their simplicity, they’ve aged well over the years. That’s why you continue to get Halloween costumes like this. It’s a great idea, although the shape probably isn’t too convenient if you want to share a kiss with your other half.

Left shark

More often than not, Super Bowl performances are incredibly memorable. We’ve had some fantastic half-time shows in recent years, from Lady Gaga leaping into the stadium to Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction. The performance that always comes to our mind first, though, is Katy Perry’s in 2015.

The singer put on a great show, although it wasn’t her that we were watching. Instead, it was good ol’ left shark. The character’s inability to follow the moves had us on the floor, which is why we love this Halloween couple’s costume.

Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy

‘Spongebob Squarepants’ was – and still is – one of the best cartoons that’s ever been on TV. The show has entertained kids for decades now, and we still can’t get enough of it.

Although the series has many great characters choices for Halloween costumes, we appreciate that these two went for Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. They didn’t feature too frequently in the program, but they were always hilarious to watch. This couple did an excellent job of bringing them to life, and they even got themselves an invisible boatmobile too.

Disney icons

When it comes to iconic TV characters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse are there at the top. The former was at the forefront of cartoons, and he’s been a mainstay of the Disney franchise ever since. Of course, where would Mickey be without Minnie?

The two are a team now, which is why they make such a great choice for a couple’s costume. It’s pretty easy to get an outfit out of these characters, especially if you have the ears. However, there’s nothing wrong with simplicity if the look’s still effective.

Hidden in plain sight

It’s amazing that these two managed to find one another, given that no-one else seems to have a clue where they are. These two characters both gained popularity for being from franchises that involved people looking for them, which is why they make perfect sense as a couple’s costume.

Although they might not share a fictional universe – or maybe they do, who knows – that doesn’t matter here. What we’re really concerned about is whether or not anyone actually noticed them when they went out together on Halloween.

A night of fairytales

The story of Red Riding Hood is something that a lot of people probably heard growing up. It’s a fairytale that’s been featured in a variety of TV shows and films over the years, so it’s almost impossible not to be familiar with it.

While the character is certainly nothing original on Halloween, it does work better when it’s paired with someone else from the story. The wolf is definitely a good call here, especially with the great job they’ve done with the makeup. It’s almost spookily realistic.

Yin and yang

Although yin and yang are from Chinese philosophy, the concept is something that’s been adopted all around the world. The idea is that two opposing forces can connect and complement each other, despite not seeming like a perfect match.

This is a great way to describe a lot of relationships, which is why we’re not surprised these two chose it as a couple’s costume. Alone, their outfits probably looked a little strange. However, when standing together like this, it’s clear to see how they combined to make the perfect look.

Just let it go

All it takes is a reminder that the animated movie ‘Frozen’ exists to get ‘Let It Go’ back in our heads. Seeing these outfits definitely doesn’t help, although we appreciate that these two didn’t go for obvious choices with their costumes.

They could have easily picked Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, or even the villainous Hans to dress as for Halloween. Instead, though, she chose to do Olaf while he opted for Sven. How many people pick the reindeer over everyone else in that film? Not enough, that’s for sure.

A trip through childhood

Educating children through television isn’t always easy, because you have to find a way to mask the fact that they’re learning. As soon as kids find out that TV’s basically putting them through more school, they lose interest.

Luckily, the animated series ‘The Magic School Bus’ did an excellent job of combining education with compelling entertainment. Miss Frizzle and her flying bus helped the series to become one of the most popular kids shows on television. Don’t believe us? These costumes should prove the impact that they had.

Celebrities who nailed it with original Halloween costumes

Cynthia!

Halloween is a time for everyone to dress up, which means celebrities love getting in on the action too. Youtube star Joey Graceffa has served quite a few impressive looks over the years, but his Angelica Pickles outfit is truly one of the best.

It’s a faithful recreation of an iconic cartoon character, from the hair and makeup down to dress. He even had his own Cynthia doll because we know Angelica would never go anywhere without her. Admittedly, though, she looks in better condition than she did in ‘Rugrats.’

The Jonas family

Now that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are married, we can probably expect them to make couples costumes a regular thing at Halloween. We definitely hope that’s the case because their take on the black comedy characters Gomez and Morticia Addams from ‘The Addams Family’ is everything.

Not only do they look the part, but the expressions on their faces really bring the outfits together. You could believe that these two were just as cynical and morbid as their counterparts, even though they’re nothing like that in real life.

I got you babe

If you’re looking to recreate an iconic couple on Halloween, Sonny and Cher is an excellent choice. Together, they gave us some unforgettable hits, and Cher has continued to make her mark since going solo.

The polka dot outfits that these two wore on their TV show is definitely one of their most iconic. So, it makes sense that Evan Peters and Halsey would use them as inspiration for their Halloween look. Can we petition for Peters to star on the horror anthology series ‘American Horror Story’ with that mustache?

Rapper recreation

Dressing up as other celebrities on Halloween might not be that spooky, but if it’s done well, then it doesn’t matter. Just look at Rita Ora’s take on Post Malone. A lot of work went into this outfit, particularly with replicating the singer’s many tattoos.

Considering that Post Malone is a big deal right now, Ora’s choice is definitely a relevant one. We have to wonder if anyone actually confused the singer for the real deal, especially given all the attention to detail. She could totally pass for the guy.

Totally twinning

One of the spookiest characters to ever grace a horror film is undoubtedly the Grady twins from ‘The Shining.’ Even though they didn’t play a significant role – and they didn’t really do much to be scary – that shot of them standing in the hallway is unforgettable.

Somehow, Joey Fatone and his partner, Izabel Araujo, managed to recreate that sinister appeal, despite not looking identical. Being taller, bigger, and hairier than his girlfriend was always going to make Joey stand out in that blue dress, but somehow, the outfit still works.

Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse

Tim Burton has created or reinterpreted many iconic characters over the years, and Betelgeuse is undoubtedly one of them. The antagonist from the comedy-horror movie ‘Beetlejuice’ is one of his spookiest to date, which makes him a perfect outfit choice on Halloween.

The Weeknd did an incredible job of bringing the character to life here, and he didn’t miss out on any of the small details either. Bella Hadid’s version of Lydia Deetz was also stunning, making these two the perfect Halloween pairing – when they were still together, at least.

Yabba dabba doo

It seems customary for celebrities to pull off multiple looks in the buildup to Halloween now, rather than just wearing one outfit on October 31. Kim Kardashian has certainly done that, with the socialite dazzling us with a variety of costumes this last year.

However, the one that really stands out to us is her Flintstones attire. Sure, the fact that Kanye West actually dressed up as Dino is part of the appeal. It’s Kim’s Betty Rubble look that we really love, though. It’s so simple, yet completely convincing.

You’ll float too

One horror movie character we definitely wouldn’t ever want to encounter is Pennywise. We don’t even need to watch the ‘It’ films to know he’s truly terrifying. However, if it’s just Demi Lovato dressed up as the shapeshifting clown, then that’s a lot easier to handle.

We still wouldn’t want to meet her in a dark alleyway, but that’s just because she did such a great job with the makeup. It’s so convincing, in fact, that if she tried telling us “you’ll float too,” we’d run for the hills.

The (taco) belle of the ball

On the surface, this couple’s costume probably doesn’t seem to make much sense. How exactly does Belle from the musical romance film ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and a taco go together? However, if you put them the other way around, then you realize that you’ve got Taco Bell(e).

Like so many other people, Sarah Hyland and her fiancé Wells Adam decided to be punny with their outfits, and it definitely worked. We just can’t decide whether we prefer her as a taco or him in drag more.

Clued-up on Clueless

When it comes to iconic films from the ‘90s, ‘Clueless’ is definitely up there with the best of them. It’s a movie that we’d gladly watch a hundred times in a row and still not get bored of it.

That’s why we love that Lupita Nyong’o once dressed up as Dionne Davenport to celebrate Halloween. The actress’ outfit is pretty much a perfect recreation of what Stacey Dash wore in the romantic comedy. She even had the must-have accessory of the ‘90s – a massive cell phone – as a prop.

Skeletal success

Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart might not be an item anymore, but when they were together, they totally won Halloween. Doing skeleton makeup is nothing new, and by the time these two did it, it had definitely started growing stale.

However, the pair managed to inject new life into the design and make it fresh and exciting again. J-Lo’s look was especially stunning, what with those enchanting eye contacts. The red lipstick really made the look pop too, because what celebrity skeleton would dare let their lips go bare?

Lego family

It’s not always easy getting Halloween costume themes to work for the whole family. However, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel did an excellent job of managing it here with their lego attire.

It probably wasn’t too comfortable walking around with these massive suits on, but we suppose they only had to deal with it for one night. We love that Justin chose to play sidekick to his child, letting them be Batman while he was relegated to Robin. It was a sweet move from someone who’s obviously a loving father.

Pizza’s here

Katy Perry has never shied away from outrageous costumes. The singer has pretty much made a career out of wearing as many bizarre outfits as possible. She showed up to the 2019 Met Gala in a burger dress, after all.

That’s what makes her someone worth watching when Halloween comes around, though. You know that Katy will rarely disappoint on October 31. We still haven’t forgotten about the time she wore a pizza onesie with a zip that went all the way up, and that’s not just because we’re hungry.

Role reversal

Loki and Daredevil might not be everyone’s first choice when it comes to superheroes and villains, but they’re still big deals in the Marvel Universe. They’ve both seen their share of airtime in recent years thanks to films like ‘The Avengers’ and TV shows like ‘Daredevil.’

While Tom Hiddleston has largely been responsible for bringing Loki to life, Charlie Cox has been the face behind Daredevil. However, for Halloween 2019, the two decided to switch roles and dress up as each other. We respect these two for sharing the love.

Welcome to the freakshow

Halloween is one of Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka’s favorite days of the year because it’s a chance for them to get creative with their costumes. Every year, the husbands, along with their two kids, dress up to celebrate the occasion.

Their past themes have included ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and Hollywood icons, but one that really stands out is the freakshow looks that they did. Both men look terrifying in their attire, likely inspired by their time on the ‘Freakshow’ season of ‘American Horror Story.’

Don’t let the dogs out

You’d be hard-pressed to find many movie villains more antagonistic than Cruella de Vil. Her intentions might not seem as sinister as some other bad guys out there, but if you’re a dog lover, then you’ll understand why she’s so despicable.

Fortunately, although Cardi B chose to dress as the woman for Halloween, she doesn’t possess that same evil streak. We can’t see the rapper wanting to hurt other animals for the sake of being fashion-forward. She seems more into throwing shoes at people, to be perfectly honest.

Hocus pocus

Dressing up as your own character for Halloween might not seem particularly original. However, when said character is “Winnie” from the dark fantasy movie ‘Hocus Pocus,’ we’d say it was allowed.

After all, that movie is a firm favorite around Halloween, and Bette Midler does such an excellent job of bringing the character to life. Even though it’s been several decades since she first portrayed “Winnie,” she still looks exactly as she did all those years ago. It makes us excited that a sequel may well be in the works.

A bewitching look

Considering ‘American Horror Story’ is one of the most popular horror shows on television, the program’s characters are perfect choices for Halloween costumes.

We haven’t seen too many of them over the years, but we do appreciate Kelly Osborne showing some love to the third season, ‘Coven.’ She once dressed up for Halloween as Myrtle Snow, the head of the Witches’ Council who had an intriguing fashion sense. We’d say she did Frances Conroy’s character justice with this look, even if she didn’t have any magical powers at her disposal.

The Queen of Halloween

It doesn’t matter what anyone wears on Halloween; they will never take the crown from Heidi Klum. The model has become synonymous with the spooky holiday thanks to her annual party, which she’s been throwing for 20 years now.

As the guest of honor, Heidi always dons an impressive costume for the celebrations, and her outfits only get bigger and better every year. 2018 saw the model arrive dressed as Fiona from the animated comedy ‘Shrek,’ while her partner – Tokio Hotel’s Tom Kaulitz – came as the ogre himself.

In the clone zone

Given Klum is the Queen of Halloween, we couldn’t feature her on this list just once. Nearly every outfit that the woman has worn to her parties is worth highlighting here. Of course, not all of them have been quite as unsettling as this one from 2016.

The model herself isn’t actually dressed in anything spectacular. However, she’s joined by several other women, all wearing prosthetic masks designed to look like her. It’s uncanny valley to the extreme, and it has us a bit unnerved, to say the least.

Wubba lubba dub dub

‘Rick and Morty’ is definitely one of the animated shows that’s been most popular in recent years. Even though the series doesn’t have that many episodes, and the wait between seasons is excruciatingly long, it’s still insanely beloved.

Unfortunately, although people are big fans of the program, we wish they’d think twice before wearing costumes of the characters. The intention might have been good here, but there’s something quite unsettling about the mask this guy is wearing. We definitely wouldn’t want to come across it when we were alone.

A cursed image

If you’ve never heard of cursed images before, then congratulations, because you’ve found one. There’s something about this photo that definitely has our spines tingling, and not in a good way.

These Halloween outfits are a great example of when costumes should not be constructed at home because they make things way too creepy. We’re not sure if it’s the way the kid is smiling in that giraffe attire, or the look of fear on the child with three heads. Whatever it is, this picture has us genuinely terrified.

Dalmatian disaster

From one cursed image to another. We totally get what these two were going for here, and in real life, these costumes probably didn’t look quite so creepy. However, seeing these outfits through the lens of this old camera just makes everything a whole lot worse.

The fact that their faces blend into the costumes doesn’t help, especially for the kid with two black eyes and bright pink lips. Those features stand out a little too clearly for our liking, particularly when that’s all we can see of their face.

The elephants that came to Halloween

The creepiness just keeps on coming. Once again, the camera isn’t helping matters here, although we feel these outfits would still be a little unnerving to be around in person.

The fact that you can only see the people’s eyes here makes it all look very sinister. It has us wondering if there’s even anything else under the mask, or if those elephant heads are now just a part of them. As family-themed outfits go, this definitely isn’t one we’d want to wear with our own kids.

Down on the farm

Farmyard themed Halloween outfits probably seemed like a good idea for this family. One of them would dress up as pig, another as a goat, and the last one as a chicken.

Everyone would know exactly what they were supposed to be as they went around trick or treating, and they’d be praised for their costumes. Unfortunately, we’re not sure if that’s exactly how things worked out. While we can definitely tell what each of their outfits is supposed to be, there’s something about them that just doesn’t sit right.

Which one is it?

We’ll let you decide whether this is just a person in a Halloween costume, or a demonic entity ready to claim someone’s life. To be perfectly honest, we simply can’t tell. We’re hoping that it’s the former because the last thing we want is to see this sad clown hanging around outside our window.

There’s a reason that so many people are terrified of the circus performers, and that’s because of pictures like this. Why are they standing in a tree? It’s like they’re trying to give us nightmares.

Eight-legged demon

Why do we get the feeling this photo was found locked away in someone’s basement where the Halloween spider demon couldn’t be summoned? As homemade as the outfit might look, we can’t deny that there’s still something super spooky about it.

Perhaps it’s the blank expression this woman had on her face when the photo was taken. It’s like all the excitement has been sapped from her as she set out to find her next victim. This is definitely something that we can see invading our dreams tonight.

Nightmare clowns

Well, if these three wanted to scare us away from clowns forever, then they can congratulate themselves on a job well done. We’ll never go to a circus again without being scared out of our wits.

The crude makeup design is super unsettling here, especially on the woman in the middle. The expression on her face is haunting, to the point that she almost looks scared. Maybe she’s also afraid of clowns, but she was forced to dress up like one by her two companions. Now that would be dark.

Finger licking good

Although this guy’s Halloween costume is pretty chilling, that’s not what has us unsettled with this photo. Instead, it’s the fact that everyone has their finger in each other’s mouth, a bizarre action we wish we could explain.

Maybe if we understood why they were doing it, this whole thing would be a little less strange. Unfortunately, we’re completely clueless, so we’ll continue to be unnerved by the photo before us. We must admit we feel sorry for the kid because he had no say in being involved with this.

On the boil

Remember that couple who were dressed up as a chef and lobster? We pointed out how dark that costume design could be, but we chose to look on the lighter side of things. Unfortunately, it’s hard to do that with this picture.

We know this woman is only joking, but it’s still uncomfortable seeing her put this child in a pan as though she’s going to boil them alive. The fact that the little one is crying doesn’t help matters, and it just makes this scenario all feel disturbingly sadistic.

Right hand red

Twister is supposed to just be a harmless game that you can play with your friends and family. Sure, things can get a little awkward or uncomfortable, depending on where you’re told to put your hands and feet. However, there’s nothing about the game that’s meant to intentionally be untoward.

Unfortunately, this guy has gone and changed all that with his Halloween outfit. We’re going to go ahead and assume he’s single judging by what he wants people to do. We just hope that others didn’t take him too seriously.

Rise of the pumpkin people

We’ve been looking at this photo for far too long now, and we’re still not entirely sure how many of these pumpkin people are real. We’re certain that the one on the left is someone in a costume, but the one on the right we’re not so sure about.

The fact that they’re both wearing the same thing definitely has us wondering what’s going on here. We’re more than a little worried that the one on the left isn’t actually a person, it’s just the pumpkin decoration come to life.

Not in Kansas anymore

Well, it’s safe to say that we’re definitely not in Kansas anymore. This couple decided to go as Dorothy and the Tin Man from the musical fantasy film ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ complete with their own Toto.

However, while their intentions might have been good, we’re not sure if they pulled things off quite as they planned. Maybe it’s just Dorothy’s smile that looks a little sinister under those pigtails. She looks like she’s seen some things that she didn’t want to, and that has us pretty terrified.

Beware the sock monster

Words almost fail us when it comes to this Halloween costume. We’re not entirely sure what the outfit is supposed to be, although we’d assume a sock monster judging by what they’re covered in.

It’s not especially inventive, although we give them credit for making use of what they had. Not everyone wants to throw away loads of money on a look they’ll only wear once for the entire year. Of course, that still doesn’t explain why they’ve opted for such harsh makeup on their face.

Let me out

Getting in on the Halloween action when you’re pregnant can definitely be tricky. Not every costume looks right when you’ve got a bump, which means you have to get creative. Unfortunately, we fear that this mom might have gotten a little too dark with her ideas.

While we can definitely see the comedic side that she was going for, there’s also something super unsettling about having a baby’s arms and legs sticking out of you like this. The words “LET ME OUT” also do nothing to ease our concerns.

Creature of the deep

When it comes to Disney villains, Ursula from the animated movie ‘The Little Mermaid’ is definitely one of the more memorable. It helps that she’s such an imposing creature, and her final battle is one of the more epic in the Disney princess series.

Considering how iconic Ursula is, we’re not surprised that people would want to dress as her for Halloween. She and the holiday go together like peanut butter and jelly. However, we don’t think this person has quite managed the sinister look they were probably going for.

Wandering eyes

After more than 30 years on our TV screens, we can’t deny that the animated series ‘The Simpsons’ is now a staple of mainstream society. Sure, it might not be as popular as it once was, but that shouldn’t take away from how much it’s influenced pop culture over the years.

Of course, we wish it hadn’t affected this lot quite so much, because then this picture wouldn’t exist. Things would be infinitely better if they’d just done a better job of cutting the eye holes on Ned and Marge.

Star flaws

You’ve always got to admire people for trying. Not everyone is super talented at designing Halloween costumes, and we can’t all afford to buy expertly-made ones from the store. This lot definitely had to try and get creative with their costumes, and it, unfortunately, didn’t pay off for everyone. C-3PO has certainly seen better days, as has R2-D2.

As for Chewbacca, there was definitely a mix up with the hair colors because they’re the wrong way round. At least we can tell who everyone is supposed to be, though.

Pinata party

We have to point out that this girl has done an excellent job with her costume here. We’re not sure whether she bought it or made it herself, but either way, it looks amazing. However, we’re not too thrilled that her other half is going around carrying a stick like this.

Obviously, the point of the costume is that she is a pinata, and therefore, she’s filled with candy. The fact that you traditionally get the sweet treats out of a pinata by hitting it, though, leaves us feeling uneasy.

A farmyard frenzy

What do we even say about these outfits? The contrast between what some of these people are wearing and what they have on their heads is incredibly disconcerting. Then, of course, there’s the fact that everyone is wearing these bizarre masks.

We’re not sure which one is more unsettling, the sinister-looking pig or the raw chicken with a few slits for eyes and a mouth. We’d probably have to go with the latter, simply because those black holes look soulless and like something you’d find in a horror movie.
