Sigourney Weaver was born as her second child (the actress has an older brother) under the name Susan (she decided to change her name at the age of fourteen in honor of the heroine from the novel “The Great Gatsby”) in Manhattan, New York in the creative family of the famous British actress Elizabeth Inglis and the president of the largest American NBC’s Pat Weaver. Having graduated first from an elite school in San Francisco and then from a private school in Connecticut, the Ethel Walker School, the future star set off to wander. Having traveled half of America, young Weaver spent some time in an Israeli kibbutz, then visited Europe and during the trip decided on her goals. Although what else could they be, given family traditions?

Career and creativity

Having made her debut in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall in 1977, the aspiring actress two years later so convincingly played the role of Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, a brave fighter against aliens in Riddley Scott’s legendary science-fiction film Alien, that she immediately devalued the opinion of some critics that that nature rests on children. It was a huge success, and a worldwide one! Weaver later starred in three more parts of the project, receiving a Saturn Award for her talented portrayal of the heroine in the sequel to Aliens, as well as nominations for an Oscar, a Golden Globe and many other awards. And most importantly, now Sigourney was a recognized star and an idol of millions!

Among Weaver’s several dozen film works, it is worth special mentioning her memorable heroines in the films: “Ghostbusters” and its sequel, “You Again,” “The Chase,” “The Cabin in the Woods,” “In Broad Daylight,” “Red Lights,” “ Heartbreakers” (Sputnik Award), “Snow Pie”, “Notorious”, “Point of Fire”, in the drama “My Year in New York”, and, of course, “Avatar” and its no less interesting, recently released screen, sequel to Avatar 2: The Way of Water. Moreover, for filming in the latter, the star, being already at an advanced age, mastered scuba diving.

Personal life

There is complete harmony in Weaver’s personal life. And for a long time. And no public scandals. After a youth affair, engagement and separation from Israeli journalist Aaron Latham, she married American director Jim Simpson, seven years younger than her wife, and gave birth to his daughter Charlotte, who is now thirty-two years old.
