Let’s face it, the only good Ghostbusters movie came out 37 years ago. This was followed by a sequel to 1989, which was negatively received by critics. And Ghostbusters 3 spent two decades in development hell and died.
The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon was a box office flop, and a clear warning that the franchise is best left behind … but Hollywood is stubborn.
“Ghostbusters: Heirs” will be a sequel and at the same time a reboot of the original film. And, unlike the “female version” of the hunters, the new version will not rely on the nostalgia of older fans. Instead, she will try to appeal to a younger audience, as the main characters in the film will be teenagers. Despite the enticing trailer, interest in the new “Hunters” is subdued, and many people are just curious to see how successful this movie will be at the box office.
